A partnership between the Sotecnisol Group and Trina Green Hydrogen aims to implement green hydrogen production projects in the country by 2030. A large portion of what is considered one of the key energy solutions of the future will be channeled primarily into H2Med, the European hydrogen corridor.

With the goal of positioning Portugal at the forefront as a producer and exporter of green hydrogen, leveraging the country's natural resources and strategic location, the Power Invest, Lda., a Portuguese company within the Sotecnisol Group that specializes in renewable energy, has just announced the signing of an agreement with Trina Green Hydrogen, one of the world’s leading companies in the green hydrogen sector.

According to the same source, this collaboration aims to develop green hydrogen production projects in Portugal, including a pioneering project to feed hydrogen into H2Med, the European hydrogen corridor. This European initiative, which connects Portugal, Spain, France, and Germany, is intended to create a robust infrastructure for transporting green hydrogen and to contribute significantly to the continent’s climate goals.

The first phase of the project, which is already underway, will include feasibility studies and the identification of strategic locations for the installation of production facilities. Production is expected to begin by 2030, with significant volumes of hydrogen being supplied to H2Med.

A Power Invest, which is already recognized for its work on corporate self-consumption projects (UPAC) and large-scale photovoltaic power generation, thus reinforces its position as a leading player in the clean energy market.

“This agreement represents an important milestone for Power Invest and for the renewable energy sector in Portugal. Working together with Trina Green Hydrogen allows us to leverage our expertise and contribute to Europe’s energy transition.”, says José Luís Castro, CEO of the Sotecnisol Group.

Trina Green Hydrogen, for its part, brings to the partnership its expertise in innovative technological solutions and extensive experience in implementing green hydrogen projects in various global markets. A company spokesperson stated: “We are excited about the potential of this project in Portugal, which not only promotes local development but also strengthens Europe’s energy infrastructure.”

Under this agreement, the Power Invest and Trina Green Hydrogen reaffirm their commitment to sustainability and the development of innovative energy solutions for the future. This collaboration has the potential to place Portugal at the forefront of the global energy transition, contributing to national and European climate goals.
